November/December 2021 |
|
Can you believe it’s the end of another year? After everything we’ve all been through in the last two years, I think we deserve to relax and what better time than Christmas? This festive season feels strange to me as it's my last as a Miss. I'm getting married in July 2022, and the countdown is officially on. Everything is booked and I’m starting to get excited and nervous about the idea of walking down the aisle. I love writing about your weddings and sharing your stories with our wonderful region, and it’s given me some great ideas for my own big day and is helping keep my nerves in check!
The November/December issue has always been my favourite, so we’ve gone all out to create an issue full of inspirational weddings, shoots, catering options, jewellery ideas and fairytale venues.
We’re always looking for weddings and shoots to feature, so please feel free to get in touch by emailing me at melissab@kdmediapublishing.com or via our website.
Merry Christmas!

Llancaiach Fawr Manor
The historic Llancaiach Fawr Manor is a Grade I listed property that’s one of the finest surviving fortified Tudor manor houses in the country. The 16th century venue has been restored to how it would have looked during the royal visit of King Charles I in 1645. Situated in the heart of the South Wales Valleys, it’s a secluded paradise that’s perfect for weddings.
Intimate celebrations take place in the Parlour, which provides the perfect setting for an atmospheric candlelit ceremony for up to 30 friends and family, or the splendid Great Hall can be used for 50 people.
The light and modern Conservatory, which offers panoramic views across the surrounding countryside, is available for up to 70 guests. Large nuptials are held in the Mansell Hall. It perfectly combines modern and traditional décor and is capable of holding 120 loved ones.
Receptions for more than 120 nearest and dearest take place in the elegant Marquee. Situated on a tree-lined meadow, the attractive formal gardens are ideal for a champagne and canapés reception in the summer months or treasured family photographs.

Five tips on how to ensure your caterer is acting sustainably |
|
A typical British wedding produces one third of a metric tonne of solid waste and 14.5 tons of carbon dioxide in one day. To put that into perspective, annual carbon emissions per capita in the UK are around 9.1 tonnes. A large percentage of the waste comes from catering. In fact, an average of £488 worth of food is wasted at every wedding. There is a pressing need for change in how we approach weddings, keeping them fun, beautiful and memorable yet responsible.
Fortunately, more people today are turning to sustainable options, and this trend is here to stay. Aiming to have a sustainable wedding catering experience does not mean sacrificing luxury and quality – it means catering wisely and creatively. You do not need to forfeit your personal taste and unique preferences when envisioning an environmentally conscious wedding. Tania Burton, the founder of a sustainable, family-run luxury wedding and event catering business Ginger Snap (https://www.ginger-snap.co.uk/), shares 5 ways to ensure your wedding catering is delicious and beautifully presented without harming the environment:
