May/June 2025 |
|
| Hello there gorgeous readers, you may have already noticed, but we are no longer arriving home in the dark – hurrah for British Summer Time! I can’t begin to tell you how much happier it makes me to get home in the light and still feel like I have some day left to live. It’s around this time of year that I convince myself anything is possible and sign myself up for events and commitments (that I will 100% regret). I’ll strop around the morning of, and then thank myself when I’m home, that I actually went out instead of staying home and rewatching The Crown for the billionth time. Can we all agree that Claire Foy make us want to speak in a really posh accent? The pull a royal wedding seems to have on us, as a nation, is why so many couples are now looking to recreate this on their special day. Jessica and Adam Darlow, from one of our real wedding pieces, did exactly that at their wedding in June 2024. What better way to say ‘I do’ then when you look like a real life princess? But how else can you rule the wedding world? In this issue we will dive into everything from dream venues to the trend of short gowns. I hope you enjoy this stunning collection of real weddings, Q&As and fashion debates, as much as I did putting them together. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some very important research to be doing *The Crown intro starts playing*. Chat soon! Issy x | | |

Spotlight on Neath to Barry |

Ewenny Priory
Ewenny Priory is a fortified Norman Priory, within which is an impressive Georgian mansion set amongst flat lawns between the house and the fortification. The gardens of Ewenny Priory provide space for a large marquee, tipis, or yurts to hold the wedding reception and a party for up to 250 guests. From all areas of the garden, there are magnificent views of the Medieval deer park.
Ewenny Priory does not currently hold a licence to conduct civil marriages or civil partnerships; however, blessings can be held outside or in the Presbytery of the Church. Couples can also be married in the Ewenny Parish Church, if they are eligible to do so.
Receptions take place in the gardens of the Priory under canvas. There is room for up to 250 guests, so you’ll have plenty of space if you wish to hold a grand event. Some notable features of the venue are the 12th- and 13th-century fortifications surrounding the house – it’s a beautiful testament to days gone of impressive architecture. Other features include a 1,000-bird Dovecot, large Victorian stable yard and an 80-acre Medieval deer park – quite the big-day backdrop!
