March/April 2021

I’ve worked at County Wedding Magazines for more than four years and over that time I’ve seen trends come and go, inspirational real weddings and worked with some amazing suppliers. As a result, I thought I’d have a pretty good idea of what I’d want at my own wedding but when my partner, Dave, recently proposed I realised I have absolutely no idea! I’m sure lots of you will agree that the first few weeks of having the ‘engaged’ status and wearing the ring feels a bit surreal, but the endless possibilities are also really exciting. Like so many of you, we’re trying to plan the perfect wedding during a pandemic, so things have been a little unconventional so far with online tours, lots of Skype meetings and E-mails. Its been so wonderful to see first hand how suppliers in the wedding industry are going above and beyond to ensure their couples’ days are special, regardless of the restrictions.

If you’re looking for inspiration, then this issue is perfect for you. We’ve rounded up some of the best bridal boutiques, spoken to local entertainers, hair and make-up artists and a host of other talented suppliers. We have three real weddings starting on page 23 and a stunning shoot on page 49 that’s sure to inspire you. You can submit your wedding or styled shoot via our website or at melissab@kdmediapublishing.com

I hope you enjoy the issue!

Llechwen Hall Hotel

Llechwen Hall Hotel is a charming Victorian manor house that dates back to the 17th-century. Perched above Mount Llanfabon, the hotel offers panoramic views of the valleys below. Surrounded by six acres of countryside, the property has a range of places to take those all-important photographs including the garden and terrace.

The three-star venue has 44 bedrooms for guests to choose from, including 24 new elegantly decorated superior rooms. With a modern yet traditional décor, each room provides Welsh toiletries, luxurious bedding and some have Juliet balconies that offer impressive views. The on-site restaurant is situated in a stunning Orangery and has consistently been awarded an AA Rosette for more than 10 years.

There are three wedding spaces for couples to choose from. The Nelson Suite is the oldest part of the hotel and boasts a long aisle, original oak beams and a private entrance. There’s also a bar and bi-folding doors that lead onto the terrace and provide striking views.

The Garden Marquee is anything but traditional. It has floor-to-ceiling glass panels that overlook the valley letting in plenty of natural light, crisp white drapes, a starlit dancefloor, a private terrace and bar, bespoke lighting and full air-conditioning.

Ideal for intimate celebrations, The Jail House is a historic stone building that was once used as an overnight stop-over for alleged convicts before heading to the magistrates the following day. Recently renovated, the building comprises of original oak beams, bespoke rustic chandeliers and a fantastic full-length interior balcony that overlooks the ceremonies taking place below.

Pigment + Paper and Tabitha MacCurrach-Paine have won awards at The Wedding Industry Awards

South Wales illustrator, Brittany Davies and West Midlands-based hair stylist, Tabitha MacCurrach-Paine have been awarded some of the highest accolades in the wedding industry, Brittany's illustration studio Pigment + Paper has been awarded Wedding Stationer of the Year 2021, and Tabitha has won Wedding Hair Stylist of the Year 2021 at the recent The Wedding Industry Awards (TWIA). TWIA is the only regional and national client-voted awards in the wedding industry. It was set up to recognise excellent wedding suppliers and to help anyone organising a wedding find the best suppliers. This year, the normally glamorous ceremony, was held over zoom on 14th January which added to the air of unreality for Brittany. "It's amazing news and still sinking in for me. The thought that my clients have taken the time to give so much positive feedback about my work, really means so much to me. It is truly wonderful to hear how much the illustrations I create mean to my couples as lasting keepsakes of their special day."
