January/February 2022

Welcome to the first issue of 2022. It dawned on me over the festive period that in just a few months time I will become Mrs Cullen – eek! I can’t believe how quickly time passes, we’ve been engaged for more than a year now, and it’s just flown by. I’m very organised, much to my fiancé’s dismay, but the closer we get to the day, the more I feel like I’m forgetting something. We’ve booked all of our suppliers, organised all the outfits, so it’s just the small things left to do, but the nerves are starting to set in. My wonderful bridesmaids have been helping keep me calm, but the idea of walking down the aisle without falling over is giving me nightmares. Talking to some of our readers, I know that many of you felt the same in the run-up to your big day, so it’s nice knowing that I’m not alone. If you have any tips for controlling nerves on the day, please feel free to get in touch as any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Whether you’re newly engaged or a long-term reader, I hope you enjoy this issue and find lots of inspiration. We have images from local florists, ideas for dressing the bridal party, fabulous real weddings, styled shoots and an impressive fashion section. If you’ve recently celebrated your day, been involved with a styled shoot or want to share tips from your planning journey, email melissa.barker@kdeventsandpublishing.com or you can submit your wedding via our website.

Happy planning.

Tall John's Weddings

The manor house at Tall John’s Weddings is situated within acres of exquisite grounds with mature trees and breathtaking views across the valley. The working walled garden is the ideal place to take photographs with a rose bower, a double swing hanging from a beech tree and a silver birch bower.

There is also a restored Welsh barn available for weddings which looks across the Black Mountains with an enchanting courtyard and a wooden gazebo that can be decorated with flowers and covered in Perspex if the weather is unkind. Inside are electric points, underfloor heating, insulation, hard floors and a catering area.

Included in the venue hire is two nights in the Honeysuckle Cottage, which sleeps eight people on a self-catering basis, and the couple will be able to spend the wedding night in The Coachmans. The house is also available for up to 20 guests on a staffed basis, with breakfast included.

Intimate services are held in the Drawing Room, inside the manor house, with up to 20 loved ones.

The gorgeous split level Granary with its canopied beams and light stone floor can accommodate 80 loved ones downstairs, but there is space in the gallery above for extra friends and family.

Large celebrations are held in the barn, which is licensed for 160 nearest and dearest.

Those wanting to enjoy the great outdoors can tie the knot under the wooden gazebo with optional steps to the natural grassed stage where the newlyweds will be in full view of their guests.
