In light of the current circumstances, it's no surprise that many newlyweds are opting for a honeymoon in the UK. Manchester-based aparthotel CitySuites' recent survey revealed minimooners prefer the Cornish coast when looking for a UK destination honeymoon.

An average of 1,500 searches are made every month in the UK for the term 'Minimoon', with a UK minimoon costing an average of £1,051 compared to £3,494 of honeymoons abroad it's clear why it's quite appealing. What's more, 2019 has been one of the UK's hottest years on record so sun-lovers need not venture abroad for the warmer clime.

Unsurprisingly, the most popular minimoon destination in the UK is Cornwall, followed by London then Edinburgh showing a mixture of couples craving the tranquillity of coast and country but city-lovers have a plethora of options too. In the UK, many of the top minimoon destinations appear to be either in the south of England (London, Bath, St Ives, Brighton) or in Scotland and Ireland (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast).
Northern cities such as Liverpool, Blackpool, Manchester and York are also searched for fairly frequently, however don't appear to be quite as popular.
