Hannah Mills, 28, married David Gerrard, 34, at Miskin Manor on the 9th September, 2017.
The first time we saw Miskin Manor it took our breath away. It's such a gorgeous venue and we knew right away that we wanted to get married there. We attended a wedding fair at the manor to help us choose suppliers and we also had a tasting evening where we got to sample our menu. Every thing was perfect and the wedding coordinators were excellent and always answered all of our questions.
I had two of my amazing friends as my bridesmaids – they wore navy blue chiffon gowns with a silver belt. We bought the dresses from David's Bridal and the girls looked beautiful in them.
I knew that I wanted a light-weight material so I could manoeuvre around easily. I purchased my dress from Angelica Bridal in Camden; the staff were great and they even styled my hair to help me envision what I would look like on the day. My gown was so beautiful, I loved the décolletage a nd bling and once I tried it on I knew it was the one.
David wore a navy blue suit with a champagne-coloured waistcoat and matching cravat and the groomsmen wore the same but with a navy waistcoat.
Our flowers were a gorgeous autumnal mix of reds, oranges and purples. We purchased them from Hilary's Flowers in Abergavenny and she incorporated berries and maple leaves from Canada into my bouquet and centrepieces. Hilary was a superstar and when we went in for our consultation she showed us lots of catalogues and gave us tons of inspiration.
Our cake was from Designer Cakes by Janet, it had gold detail throughout including our family crest, which the best man Sean designed. We incorporated our heritages by including the Welsh dragon and Canadian maple leaf. Janet did a brilliant job, it tasted great and was made up of four flavours; chocolate, lemon, fruit and strawberry.
We decorated the venue with fairylights and chair covers from Chair Covers and Bows in Pontyclun. We also incorporated apples into the design to complement the autumnal colours – we named our tables after the fruit and incorporated them into our centrepieces.
We had The Taliesin String Quar tet perfo rm during the ceremony and cocktail hour, they were brilliant and per formed a mixture of classic a nd contempo rary styles. In the evening we had Daryl from Boutique Disco DJ for us. He was great and he incorporated our list of must-have songs into his playlist perfectly.
Genevieve and Dave from Mi:Skin did my hair and make-up. They were both so lovely and did a great job. I usually wear very light make-up but for my wedding day I wanted to look more dramatic. I accessorised my hair with a headband from Angelica Bridal – it had a maple leaf design that tied in with our theme perfectly. My favourite part was the ostrich feather bolero, my bridesmaid suggested I might need something to cover my arms so I tried on capes and shawls but as soon as I tried it on I felt really glamorous and I knew I had to have it.
My dad had seen our photographer Paul at another wedding and was really impressed with his work. We'd definitely recommend him – he did a fabulous job of organising our guests on the day and he made sure we got all of the shots we wanted.
