Cake maker Katy Warrington-Banfield from Cakes by Katy reveals her top tips for brides and grooms-to-be.
"Get to know your supplier and work with them to create a bespoke design for your big day. Tell them about your likes and dislikes and show them photos of cakes you like.
"Do some research before setting a budget as it’s easy to pick a figure of the air without knowing how much everything costs.
"You want your creation to be bespoke so avoid asking your cake maker to copy another design.
“I recommend adding a small cake to the top and not cutting it on the day. Instead, keep it for yourselves and enjoy it together after your nuptials. Cake freezes perfectly, so if you have any leftover and it wasn’t frozen previously (check with your supplier), freeze it and enjoy it for months to come. You could even keep some for your first anniversary.
“When do you want to serve the cake and do need enough to feed your evening guests as well?
“The most important thing to remember when it comes to choosing your cake is it has to taste great.
