The Royal Mint Experience

The Royal Mint Experience has been awarded the ‘2020 Travellers Choice Award by Trip Advisor’ – ranking it amongst the top 10 per cent of attractions worldwide for customer experience.

Located in Llantrisant, South Wales, The Royal Mint Experience welcomes thousands of visitors each year. The attraction takes visitors ‘behind the scenes’ of coin making, followed by an interactive exhibition exploring 1,100 years of history. Each visitor also has the chance to strike their own UK coin, and lift a 400oz gold bar worth around £400,000.

The attraction has received over 1,500 Trip Advisor ratings since it opened, with over 1,000 reviews ranking The Royal Mint Experience as “excellent” and last year it was awarded ‘Tourist Attraction of the Year’ at the Welsh Tourism Awards.

Nerys Royal, the general manager of The Royal Mint Experience said: “It's an absolute honour to receive the 2020 Travellers Choice award by Trip Advisor, and our visitors. This is a well-deserved credit to our fantastic staff and tour guides who pull out all the stops to make every visit a memorable one. The last four months have been particularly tough, but they’ve worked around the clock to implement additional measures to ensure a safe, enjoyable day out for all our guests during the coronavirus pandemic whilst ensuring visitors have an unforgettable experience”

Kanika Soni, the chief commercial officer at Trip Advisor, said: “Winners of the 2020 Travellers’ Choice Awards should be proud of this distinguished recognition. Although it’s been a challenging year for travel and hospitality, we want to celebrate our partners' achievements. Award winners are beloved for their exceptional service and quality. Not only are these winners well deserving, they are also a great source of inspiration for travellers as the world begins to venture out again.”
