Cool tips for sizzling summer weddings: Image 1

While many brides-to-be dream of a sunny summer wedding, soaring temperatures can take the shine off the big day if you're not properly prepared.

Vicki Morris, founder of luxury wedding and experience brand Two Became One has built her career on delivering the perfect day come rain or shine. She says, "In preparing for a wedding in the heat you need to consider the comfort of your guests as well as yourself. This summer's heatwave is predicted to be the new norm for British summertime, so whether you're planning ahead or will be getting married later on in the season there are some easy and thoughtful things you can do to make the big day hot while you stay cool."

Vicki's top tips:

Preparing for your guests:
1. Inside or out? If you decide to host your reception outside be warned, without a marquee or trees for shade, you could be shouting your vows over the top of an audience of noisy fan-flappers.
If you opt for a marquee, it needs to be cool with plenty of air flow, so your guests don't get over-heated dancing to your lovingly-selected wedding songs. You could always invest in some electric fans.
Also, if you want to take stunning photos of your day in the bright sunshine without squinty eyes and sun glare, be sure to invest in a skilled photographer.
If you're thinking of hosting your ceremony inside, check whether your venue can offer air-conditioning and extra jugs of water. You might also like to consider a venue that allows your guests to drift in and out.

2. Refreshments and goodie bags
While your venue may provide a constant stream of water and access to the bar, you can always provide the option of drinking on the rocks too. There are lots of affordable cool boxes available to keep your ice from melting.
Get creative! Have you tried making champagne ice lollies or how about heart-shaped ice cubes? Start thinking outside the box!
Why not provide summertime goodies for your guests? You could have anything from personalised sunglasses to parasols with custom-made designs. Not only will your guests appreciate the thought, they make great keepsakes too.

3. Bathrooms
Finally, leave some toiletries in the restroom and your guests will thank you. Having fragrant smellies available will keep everyone happy, fresh and ready to dance!

Preparing yourself:
4. Your wedding hair
Up dos are not only classy and on-trend, they'll also keep you cooler throughout the day by keeping your hair off your neck. Ask your hairdresser for an up do with gentle waves and curls to frame your face.

5. Your wedding dress
Keep comfort in mind when choosing your dress as the more at ease you feel, the more comfortable your guests will be.

6. Your personal toiletries bag
It's not just your guests that'll want to keep fresh. Keep a handy bag filled with your favourite perfume and hand wipes nearby or ask your bridesmaid to look after it, just in case you want to freshen up before your first dance.
