Lauren and Gaz opted for a green and gold colour scheme for their wedding at Craig Y Nos Castle

Lauren and Gaz met in the summer of 2017. “Gaz was volunteering at my cattle ranch in Wyoming,” says Lauren. “We were just friends until he went to leave, and sparks began to fly. When Gaz returned to the UK, we stayed in touch and after a few days, he had already booked his flight back to the ranch. His second stay was a little more romantic, and by the end of it, I had decided to follow him over to Wales for the winter season while he got his degree.”

Gaz proposed in Clyne Woods near where he grew up in Swansea on New Year’s Day. “It was such a lovely spot, and it was so special that it was just us and our dog in the beautiful forest,” shares the bride. “The proposal itself wasn’t a surprise as we had talked about it for a long time, but it was a really special moment, and I loved the ring that he picked out.”

From searching for the perfect engagement ring to browsing wedding venues and proposal ideas, Brits are increasingly turning to Google when preparing to take the next step in their relationships. But new research has revealed that some UK cities are considerably more marriage-minded online than others. Manchester has emerged as the UK city with the highest level of marriage-related search interest relative to its population, according to research from Agilis. The city records an estimated 1,540.7 searches per 100,000 residents across terms relating to engagement rings, proposals, wedding planning, marriage advice and civil partnerships. Plymouth comes in second, with 1,435.6 searches per 100,000 residents, while Leeds takes third place with 1,343.9. Newcastle upon Tyne, Glasgow and Birmingham also feature strongly, with each recording more than 1,300 searches per 100,000 people.
