Q: My wedding is in the summer, and I’m worried about my make-up ‘melting’ off - what do you recommend?
There are few things to consider in relation to your wedding day make-up, especially when you expect hot weather. Invest some time into getting to know your skin needs and recognising its type for example: do you have oily skin? Or have you been suffering with dry patches? Then give it some TLC, starting at least a few months before the big day. All products, especially make-up, perform and look their best on a well-balanced complexion. Consider products specifically designed to perform well in heat and that claim to be long-lasting. This might require some research to find suitable options for your skin, and the bridal look you are opting for. Waterproof mascara, finishing powder and setting spray are a must, but it might be worth considering blotting papers and a lip tint too. When it comes to application, less is more for summer wedding day make-up - this doesn’t mean losing out on a glam look! Choose layering, and blending long-lasting products suitable for your skin type, to ensure coverage and intensity of pigmentation. A well-prepped, blended base that’s been set stands a good chance against the heat. Finally, there are bridal MUAs with bags of experience and pro-tricks ready to assist. Make-up trials are a great way to test the look and for the MUA to get to know your skin.
