FudgePots, a micro-business in Cowbridge specialising in spiced and unusual fudges, has begun supplying premium shops with luxury-packaged fudge.
Perfect as wedding favours, the company was created when founders Rita Som and Catrin Thomas-Price, decided to combine Catrin’s mum’s fudge recipe with Rita’s knowledge of Indian cuisine. The duo offers vegan options, standard flavours and fun, exotic options.
“The process has already begun, and I can tell you, it’s a long journey from standing in wellies in open fields, delivering sales patter to passing punters, to the comfort of packing up regular shop deliveries,” says Catrin. “Nobody knew what the flavours were, but they attracted crowds from the outset, first at farmers’ markets and then at food and drink festivals. I wish lots of luck to all other entrepreneurs out there, and I hope that ours is not the only start-up to have experienced a silver lining to lockdown.”
