The most eye-catching wedding decor revealed

bride and groom waving sparklers

A new study, conducted by the wedding financial experts at money.co.uk, involved surveying 1,000 future newlyweds and asking them to estimate how much they will spend on 70 wedding items. Images of these 70 items were then used in an eye-tracking study to reveal the specific elements that people spend the most time gazing at.

Fairylights came out on top, with guests staring at them for 5.53 seconds which is impressive considering they are the decorations that those planning a wedding expect to pay the least for (£106.25). So, if you're looking to impress your guests without splurging then try draping your venue in tiny, twinkling fairylights.

Another cost-effective wedding item follows as the second-most eye-catching wedding decor, as sparklers catch guests' attention for 5.13 seconds. Bridal bouquets are third, followed by floral pew ends in fourth. The most costly additional extra to feature in the top 10 is a DJ, which is fifth, as couples expect to pay nearly £600 to keep their guests entertained. Closely following a DJ is disco lights in sixth place, which wedding guests gazed at for 5.03 seconds, and then a seating chart is seventh. A photo booth station, candle centrepieces, and bespoke cocktails complete the top 10 list ranking in eighth, ninth, and tenth place, respectively.
