The results showed:

  • 50% of couples chose church weddings.
  • 48 same sex ceremonies were performed.
  • Less than 25% of ceremonies were performed outdoors.
  • 18% of venues performed a sand pouring ceremony.
  • 47% venues performed a hand-fasting.
  • 18% of venues performed knot tying.
  • 47% of venues performed a candle lighting service.
  • The most popular day to get married was Saturday and the least popular were Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Less than 25% of weddings were themed.
  • The average couple spent £6,800.
  • 41% of couples prefered a smaller wedding
