We talk to Anna and Jamie, a couple whose 2020 wedding was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic: Image 1

We chat to Anna Parkinson and Jamie Ullmer, an engaged couple who were supposed to be getting married on the 27th March, 2020, at Anstey Hall in Trumpington, Cambridge. The coronavirus outbreak meant they had to postpone their wedding...

How has postponing your wedding made you feel?
Really rubbish to begin with. The virus was peaking, and the government restrictions were getting tighter by the day and we were due to get married within two weeks. We were so close! We did not want to admit that all our planning for the last year and a half was going down the drain. Our insurance providers said they would not cover us for government acts, so we were distraught thinking we were going to lose thousands of pounds. Fast forward to just over a month, and we feel like we have a second chance to tweak our wedding with no great financial loss in the end.

Have you managed to re-book your wedding?
Yes! We have moved it to 11th September, 2020 - although even that feels risky!

How easy was it to re-book with your previously chosen suppliers?
Surprisingly easy. Every single one of our fantastic suppliers were so kind and moved the date with no hesitation. We did not think that every supplier would, but they did at no extra cost, which highlighted we had chosen the best people.

Have you had to source any new wedding suppliers?
Thankfully everyone was free and we did not need to use other supplies. Even our wedding DJ is doing our re-scheduled date, even though he has a wedding booked for the previous evening and does not normally do this.

What has kept your spirits lifted during this process?
Knowing that it WILL happen at some point and it will be a big celebration of freedom and wellbeing, as well as marriage, which will make It even more special and unique.

How can other couples in a similar position stay positive?
Feeling thankful you still have each other and get another shot at your big day.

What are your top tips for overcoming wedding planning dramas during Coronavirus?
Make sure you chose suppliers you like and trust and can build a good relationship with because you will need people who will support you when things go bad, just like ours did.

If you need to source suppliers and get inspiration for your wedding, you can download all our magazines for free here. Our small gift to you in these strange times.

House of Janneke, a new lifestyle brand, launches Book of Special Days

The Book of Special Days is a keepsake journal that gives special moments a home. This isn't a diary. There are no rules, no schedules, no need to write in it every day.  There is a page for every day of the year, but no printed years. After a special day, you find the date, add the year and write down what made it worth remembering. Over time, this book will become something more: a living archive of your days, a weave of stories across the years, a place for little joys, victories big and small, laughter shared and milestones you cherish. It holds what you don't want to forget, a trove of the ordinary and the extraordinary, all treasured alike.
