The younger generation are more likely to incorporate Welsh themes into their big day than their parents according to a recent study

The younger generation have a strong connection to their Welsh roots, with couples between the ages of 18-25 highlighting that they are more likely to incorporate Welsh themes into their weddings than their parents' generation.

The study, commissioned by The Celtic Manor Resort, revealed the importance of incorporating a national twist into their wedding celebrations. When asked which Welsh elements people would consider including in their big day, choosing a Welsh venue came out on top, followed closely by supporting local suppliers and giving away Welsh-inspired wedding favours, such as Welshcakes and carved wooden spoons.

Nearly one fifth of those surveyed said they would like to incorporate Welsh language in their wedding and nearly one quarter would choose Welsh hymns as part of the ceremony.

As well as exploring the demand for weddings with a regional twist, the research revealed that nearly three quarters of those surveyed felt that venue was a top priority when planning a wedding, an out and out winner ahead of food and catering and even the dress.
