Wedding guest fashion tips and tricks by celebrity stylist Joey Bevan

Celebrity fashion stylist Joey Bevan shares his wedding guest fashion tips and tricks and predicts the trends for postponed celebrations now taking place in autumn and winter.

Joey tells us, "as a wedding guest, if you stick to the classic looks, these won't date. For an autumnal wedding, think rich tones like gold, red, burnt orange and jewel colours and also consider florals in deeper shades."

He continues, "In terms of shapes, longer dresses are great, especially those with a split to create movement and I would suggest choosing a breathable fabric where you can regulate the temperature. Little jackets work well during this time – they are great to swing over your shoulder for a chic look to keep the evening chill at bay. Don't forget those gold accessories and a nice clutch bag as the finishing touches."

Joey says those attending a winter wedding should opt for icy tones in blue, grey and silver as well as darker shades like navy and burgundy. He suggests, "festive vibes also work well - that doesn't mean you can dress up as Mrs Claus or Elsa from frozen though! Texture is key - embroidery and embellishments work well and complement each other. Think icy droplets and textured wintery fabrics. The thicker fabrics and layers work so well during this time and it's also a great excuse to pull out those fabulous faux furs!"

Joey advises that winter weddings are the ideal occasion for rocking a two-piece suit. "Opt for a nice thick tweed suit. Brands like Zara, River island and Mango always do great tailoring."

He says that if you are a trend-follower then take inspiration from the following:
*The colour pop suit, perfect for an alternative to a dress.
*Tartan and checks – they are back in fashion!
*Leather or pleather. This is huge this for autumn and winter. Long leather trench coats are a must - avoid black though.

For accessories, Joey suggests choosing long gloves and experimenting with wearing a belt over a blazer. "Asymmetrical sleeves and cut outs are a big trend too, we saw designers like Burberry and Dion Lee play with cut outs and puff sleeve silhouettes."

"Finally, remember that weddings are all about the glamour. It's an opportunity to dress up and look chic, just try not to upstage the bride!"
